Portugal will meet Italy again in the final of the European Under-19 Football Championship, after the Italians beat Spain 3-2 in the second semi-final of the competition taking place in Malta on Thursday.
After Vignato (52 minutes) and Pisilli (66) scored for the Italians and Barberá (58) and Gasiorowski (74) equalized twice for the Spaniards, the decisive goal for the Italians came via Lipani (85).
Italy will thus face Portugal in the final on Sunday at 21:00 local time (20:00 in Lisbon), while the Portuguese beat Norway 5-0 in the other semi-final, with goals from Gustavo Sá, Hugo Félix, Rodrigo Ribeiro, twice, and Carlos Borges.
The two teams already faced each other at this European Championship, exactly one week ago, in a match of the second round of Group A that ended with a great victory for the ‘quinas’ team, 5-1.
This will be the third time Portugal and Italy have met in the final of an Under-19 European Championship, with the Transalpines winning the 2003 game (2-0) and the Portuguese pushing their way into the 2018 decision (4-3). the only one the ‘quinas’ team won in the previous five they played.
