Bruno Lage steps down as Wolverhampton coach

Bruno Lage has been fired as manager of Wolverhampton. The English club officially announced the departure of the 46-year-old Portuguese coach after a message on social media. “We would like to thank Bruno and his coaching staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them all the best for the future,” reads a message on the social network Twitter.

The Portuguese coach couldn’t resist the poor results, leaving the team in the Premier League place of relegation on matchday eight, with just one win (with Southampton) and three draws (against Fulham, Newcastle and Bournemouth).

In fact, they have only won one in their last 15 championship games, and the last loss was this Saturday in London against West Ham, 2-0.

Bruno Lage arrived at the club early last season, taking 10th place, with 15 wins in 38 games, after also being eliminated in the 4th round of the FA Cup and the 3rd round of the League Cup.

Wolverhampton is the most Portuguese team in the Premier League, with 10 athletes. It is José Sá, Nélson Semedo, Toti Gomes, Rúben Neves, Matheus Nunes, João Moutinho, Pedro Neto, Gonçalo Guedes, Chiquinho and Daniel Podence, who are now waiting to meet the new team commander.
