The ban on the pitch at Estádio do Bessa, in Porto, has been lifted by the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP), with only three days left for Boavista to host Benfica, on the opening day of the I Liga.
“The LPFP technical inspection committee has determined the lifting of the ban on the Bessa stadium. This decision was made following a re-inspection of the lawn repair work, which was found to be effective in terms of increasing density, without disrupting the normal course endangering the physical integrity of the players”, the organization said in a note published on its official website.
On July 24, with immediate and preventive effects, the LPFP had banned the use of the pitch at Estádio do Bessa, which received a rating of 1.35 (from 0 to 5) the day before when Boavista lost to União de Leiria, in the first phase of the League Cup.
The measure was in effect for nearly three weeks, but was lifted in time for Boavista to face champions Benfica, scheduled for Monday from 8:45 p.m., in the final first round match of the 2023/24 edition of the I Liga.
