This Sunday, Portugal said goodbye to the European Paralympic Games, a competition of various disciplines that takes place in Rotterdam, in a day that closed with the cyclists Luís Costa and Flávio Pacheco.
Luís Costa finished the H5 cycling race in fifth place with a time of 1:46.08 hours, and Flávio Pacheco covered the same distance in the H4 class line race and finished in ninth place, in 1:41.02 hours.
The day ‘celebrated’ Beatriz Monteiro (SU5 individual bronze medal), and Diogo Daniel (SL4 individual bronze), who were at the badminton podium ceremonies, for the medals won on Saturday.
In total, the Portuguese team leaves Rotterdam with 12 medals, in addition to badminton, five more bronzes, as well as two silvers and two golds, in the titles of Miguel Vieira in judo -60kg J1 and Carla Oliveira in individual BC4 of bocce
Ana Correia in the individual BC2 petanque and Bernardo Vieira in the C1 cycling time trial secured the two silver medals.
The other bronze medals belong to Djibrilo Iafa in -73kg J1 judo, André Ramos in individual BC1 bocce, to the BC4 bocce pair made up of Carla Oliveira and Nuno Guerreiro, to the BC1/BC2 bocce team made up of André Ramos, David Araújo and Cristina Gonçalves and Bernardo Vieira in the C1 line cycling race.
The Portuguese performance, a selection that included 26 athletes in Rotterdam, was greeted by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
“President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who accompanied the performance of our athletes during the 13 days of competition in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, congratulates the Portuguese delegation for the results obtained, which honor Portugal and the national sport, in this first edition of the European Paralympic Championships”, can be read in a note published on the website of the Presidency of the Republic.
