For Italy, Mancini managed to lead the ‘azzurra side’ to win Euro 2020, played in 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic and defeated England in the final on penalties (1-1, 3-2).
According to a federative source, Mancini signed a four-year contract in charge of the Saudi national team, succeeding Frenchman Hervé Renard, the coach who guided the team to the 2023 World Cup and who is currently France’s women’s coach.
Saudi Arabia have been in the closing stages of the last two World Cups, in 2018 and 2022, and their best performance in six participations is qualifying for the round of 16 in 1994, where Sweden was knocked out (3-1).
