Australian cyclist Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) won the Tour of Spain for the second day in a row this Wednesday to win stage five in the sprint, with Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) cementing the overall lead.
Groves, already winner on Tuesday, scored twice in the sprint needed to cover the 186.5 kilometers between Morella and Burriana after 4:23.43 hours, beating Italian Filippo Ganna (INEOS), second, and the Belgian Dries van Gestel (TotalEnergies), third.
In total, Evenepoel scored six seconds into an intermediate sprint and strengthened the lead, in an attempt to reconfirm the 2022 title, with Spaniard Enric Mas (Movistar) in second, 11 seconds behind, and Frenchman Lenny Martinez (Groupama- FDJ) in third place, to 17. .
On Thursday, the sixth stage returns to the high mountains, with 183.1 kilometers between La Vall d’Uixó and the Astrophysical Observatory of Javalambre, a top class climb.
