Fatawu is on loan from Sporting at Leicester

Ghana international Abdul Fatawu will play for Leicester for a season, on loan from Sporting, the club from the second tier of English football announced on Thursday.

Abdul Fatawu, 19, joins Portugal’s Ricardo Pereira and Wanya Marçal in the ‘foxes’ side, who lead the championship, with four wins in the opening four games, two points clear of Norwich, Birmingham, Southampton and Preston North End .

The Ghanaian striker joined Sporting in the 2021/21 season, but was only signed last season, with a contract until June 2027 and a release clause of 60 million euros.

“I’m very happy. This is an incredible moment for me. I’m happy to be here. For me, looking at the club and the way I felt with the coach [Enzo Maresca]”This is the best place for me,” Fatawu said.

The Ghanaian, who played fourteen games for the Lions main team last season, played at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for the African national team, for which he already has fourteen international matches and one goal to his name.

“This was the best time to join Leicester. I chose this club because I believe they can grow me and help me mature. [O treinador] He told me what plans he has for me and how he wants me to play, and how he wants to help me with my football,” Fatawu explained, quoted by the club.
