The Portugal national football team remained in ninth place in the FIFA rankings this Thursday, despite not being present in the last four of the League of Nations, on a list still headed by Brazil.
The results in the last two games of the League of Nations, in which they defeated the Czech Republic (4-0) and lost at home to Spain (1-1) did not lead to any change in the hierarchy of the team led by coach Fernando Santos.
Brazil remained at the top of the table, followed by Belgium and rival Argentina, with Italy overtaking Spain in sixth place, the only change in the top-10.
Of Portugal’s opponents in Group H of the 2022 World Cup, South Korea, coached by Portuguese coach Paulo Bento, is in 28th place, while Uruguay fell to 14th and Ghana to 61st.
Among the other teams led by Portuguese coaches, Iran, led by Carlos Queiroz, climbed to 20th, Nigeria, led by José Peseiro, fell to 32nd and Egypt, led by Rui Vitória, climbed to 39th.
Bahrain, coached by Hélio Sousa, rose to 85th and Togo, coached by Paulo Duarte, dropped to 127th.
In terms of Portuguese-speaking African countries, Cape Verde remains the only team in the top 100, in 71st place, followed by Mozambique (114th), Guinea-Bissau (116th), Angola (119th). .º) and São Tome and Principe (186.º). Macau remains in 182nd place and East Timor rose to 198th.
