The businessman Nuno Lobo began this week to collect signatures to run for the presidency of FC Porto, national soccer runner-up, whose elections will take place in 2024, the candidate defeated three years ago revealed this Friday.
“Under the motto ‘FC Porto leader of its own destiny’, our candidacy began this week collecting signatures for the 2024 elections. We are and will always be in favor of transparency and rigor. Therefore, we are finalizing a program that guarantees us a better FC Porto to everyone,” he stated, through a note sent to the media.
Nuno Lobo ran for president of the dragons in the last vote, held in June 2020, coming third, with 4.91% of the votes, behind Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, re-elected for a fifteenth consecutive term, and José Fernando Rio. .
“FC Porto is our love and, therefore, we refrain from commenting on the Mexican soap operas of recent weeks, which seem inappropriate to the management and concern of a great club,” he stressed, at a time when the ‘blues ‘and the whites join Boavista and Sporting among the leaders of the I Liga, all with 10 points, after four games.
In a week marked by criticism from Rui Moreira, president of the Porto City Council and member of the Superior Council of FC Porto, to the Dragons coach, Sérgio Conceição, businessman Nuno Lobo stressed that the club “is above everyone and all”.
“We refuse, as a matter of principle, to comment on any fact and/or comment that involves political agents of the city who use their positions to voluntarily and senselessly justify their appearance in the national press for their own personal pleasure,” he added.
