The judoka Joana Diogo will be this Friday the only Portuguese to compete in the World Championships of the modality, which are held in Tashkent, in Uzbekistan, and where she will start facing a local athlete.
Joana Diogo, who is in the fifth World Cup of her career and is 27th in the -52 kg ranking, starts above Sita Kadamboeva, 57th, but who is a young promise (21 years old) of Uzbek judo, with very good results even as a junior

For Joana Diogo it will be a debut against Kadamboeva, a judoka who in the same category has her compatriot Diyora Keldiyorova, Asian champion in title, fifth in the world ranking and fourth seed, also in the competition.
At the World Cup, Portugal had Catarina Costa (-48 kg) and Rodrigo Lopes (-60 kg) in action this Thursday, both eliminated in their first fight and after being exempted in the first round.
After Joana Diogo, the team will continue to have Bárbara Timo (-63 kg) and João Fernando (-81 kg), on Sunday, Anri Egutidze (-90 kg) on Monday, the two-time world champion Jorge Fonseca (-100 kg) on Tuesday and Rochele Nunes (+78 kg) on Wednesday.
