Morocco has chosen to organize CAN2025

Morocco, for 2025, and Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, for 2027, were the countries chosen to host the respective editions of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), the African Football Federation (CAF) announced on Wednesday.

The Moroccan candidacy competed with Algeria, Zambia and the joint 2025 candidacy of Nigeria and Benin, but saw its path made easier by the withdrawal of its opponents.

This will be the second time that Morocco, which also competes with Portugal, Spain and Ukraine to host the 2030 World Cup, will host a CAN, after the 1988 edition, having also won the 2015 edition, but due to the Ebola virus he asked for a postponement, but saw that the CAF withdrew that organization from him.

“I have a lot of confidence in Morocco. The main reason for this award is to support their bid for the 2030 World Cup,” said CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

On the same occasion, the organization of the 2027 edition was also decided, which was awarded to the joint candidacy of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
