Two people were arrested for selling tickets online “above their face value” for the duel between Benfica and FC Porto, of the Portuguese First Football League, the ASAE announced this Friday.
The arrests were carried out by the national criminal information and investigation unit of the ASAE, as part of an operation to monitor sales on digital platforms of the classic.
“As a result of the action, two individuals were named as defendants, having advertised the online sale of tickets above their face value, with the intention of obtaining an improper financial advantage,” a statement read.
Five digital banknotes were seized which, with a new price of 125 euros each, had nominal values between 30 and 45 euros, leaving the detainees subject to identity and residence conditions.
The irregular sale of banknotes above the official value constitutes a crime of speculation, punishable by a prison sentence of six months to three years.
Benfica and FC Porto face each other this Friday at the Estádio da Luz, on the seventh matchday of the championship.
