Portuguese judoka Anri Egutidze was eliminated on Monday in the second fight of the -90kg World Cup competition taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, after losing to former world champion Noel Van T’End.
Competing in -90 kg, a category that he ’embraced’ after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Anri Egutidze arrived in Tashkent as a bronze medalist at the 2021 World Championships, still at -81 kg, but not the favorite at the new weight.
Before losing to Dutchman Noel Van T’End, the 2019 world champion, Egutidze defeated American John Jayne, in the first match, by waza-ari, with 29 seconds left in the match.
