Historical. Portugal beats Fiji at the Rugby World Cup

The Portuguese team achieved its first Rugby World Cup victory in history by beating the Fiji Islands 24-23 in the final match of Group C, thanks to a try (and respective kick against the posts) in the closing minutes.

The Portuguese team, who were 3-3 at half time, managed two tries in the second half, from Storti and Francisco Fernandes. Fiji responded to win 23-17, but a Rodrigo Marta try near the end was decisive for triumph.

Portugal, which drew against Georgia and lost to Wales and Australia, ends its participation in fourth place in the group, with six points, while Wales, first with 19, and Fiji, second with 11, advance to the quarter-finals.

Australia finishes third, also with 11 points, and is out of the competition, which takes place in France, just like Georgia, which finished fifth and last with three points.
