Miguel Oliveira qualified for the second qualifying phase of the Indonesian GP

The Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) qualified this Friday directly for the second qualifying phase (Q2) of the Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix, the 15th round of the season, by finishing seventh in the timed practice.

The Almada driver concluded the session with a time of 1.31.199 minutes, 0.725 seconds behind the fastest, the Spanish Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia). Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) was second, with 0.154 seconds, and Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) was third, with 0.170, despite having undergone surgery for a broken collarbone last weekend.

Miguel Oliveira, who won the race held at the Lombrok circuit in 2022, had been 19th in the first free practice session of the day.

The Spanish Jorge Martín (Ducati), who enters this race just three points behind the leader, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), was fifth in the qualifying practice, 0.400 behind the fastest, while the championship leader and defender of the title did not go beyond 16th place and must go through the first qualifying phase (Q1) on Saturday.

This is the second time this season that the champion will have to go through Q1, after having already done so in the Spanish GP, in Jerez de la Frontera, at the end of April.

Another free practice session, the two qualifying phases and the sprint race will take place on Saturday.
