Mourinho’s Roma win in match marked by Dybala injury who could miss the World Cup

Roma, coached by Portuguese José Mourinho, took their second consecutive victory in the Italian football league this Sunday, against Lecce (2-1), for the ninth round. However, the game was dominated by the injury of Argentinian Dybala, who, according to the Portuguese coach, may endanger the World Cup.

“He’s in bad shape, not to say very bad. Going back for 2023? I’m not a doctor, I haven’t talked to the doctor, but from my experience, the way I saw him and what he told me,, I can say it is difficult,” Mourinho said, quoted by Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

at the Olympic Stadium, de Giallorossi took the lead after six minutes, thanks to a header from English defender Smalling, after a superb cross by Pellegrini.

The visitors were left with the mission to complicate points from the Italian capital even more, thanks to the direct red card shown to Hjulmand at the age of 22, after a tough challenge on Andrea Belotti.

However, even in numerical inferiority Lecce managed to restore equality, with a goal from Strefezza, but in the second half a penalty from Dybala (48), who was injured shortly afterwards, secured victory for Mourinho’s side, who initially bet on goalkeeper Rui Patrício.

Roma occupies fifth place with 19 points, from a table led only by Napoli (23), followed by second-seeded Atalanta (21), third-seeded Udinese and fourth-seeded AC Milan, both with 20.

Lecce follows in 16th, with seven, along with Bologna (17th).

Napoli defeated Cremonese 3-1 to take the lead in Serie A, taking full advantage of Atalanta’s draw.

In Cremona, in penultimate place, Napoli, who shared the lead with Atalanta at the start of the match, opened the score in the 26th minute after a penalty converted by Politano.

With the Portuguese Mário Rui in the base, the Neapolitans, who already knew about Atalanta’s draw against Udinese (2-2), saw Dessers equalize after 47 seconds.

Argentina striker Giovanni Simeone, assisted by Mário Rui, broke the tie in the 76th minute. Napoli’s last two goals were scored in added time by Hirving Lozano (90+2) and Mathis Olivera (90+4), who took the field in the 82nd minute to replace the Portuguese fullback.
