Canelas, from League 3, eliminated Desportivo de Chaves, from the I Football League, from the Portuguese Cup this Sunday, by beating the Trás-os-Montes team at home, 5-3 in the shootout from penalties, after 0-0 after extra time.
The Vila Nova de Gaia team converted all five penalties while their goalkeeper, João Matos, saved the penalty awarded by Pedro Pinho.
Desportivo de Chaves is the fourth I Liga team eliminated in the third round of the Portuguese Cup, after Farense, Moreirense and Rio Ave were eliminated by Länk Vilaverdense (II Liga), Paredes (Portuguese Championship) and Torreense (II League), respectively.
