FC Porto solved it in the first half and succeeded in the second

FC Porto defeated Vizela (2-0) tonight. A win built up in the first half, with a goal from Taremi and a goal from Eustaquio, allows FC Porto to move into joint leadership of the I Liga in the 9th round, together with Benfica and Sporting (they play on Monday with Boavista).

With Francisco Conceição, Jorge Sánchez, Fábio Cardoso and Eustaquio in the starting XI, the Porto players settled the game early, then spent another 45 minutes managing the lead they had gained in the opening 45 minutes.

Taremi opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. When called upon to score a penalty – after Evanilson was brought down in the Vizelense area – the Iranian had the usual success and put the Dragons ahead. The reaction of the men led by Pablo Villar was ineffective only as the post helped Diogo Costa prevent Nuno Moreira’s goal (33′).

Porto’s second goal came before halftime (44′) from Eustáquio. Pepe served Evanilson, who saw Eustaquio well placed and set him up for a beautiful goal with an arching shot after clearing an opponent.

The second half was about management… with Nuno Moreira trying to involve Vizela in the discussion about the result, something that didn’t happen despite some defensive fears testing the Porto goalkeeper.

FC Porto thus maintained third place in the I Liga, with the same 22 points as commander Benfica and second Sporting, who play at Boavista’s home on Monday, while Vizela dropped to sixteenth place after the fifth game in a row without a win, with six points.
