Manchester City become the first club to reach the knockout stage of the Champions League

Manchester City are the first club to have virtually qualified for the round of 16 of the Football Champions League, in the fourth round of the group stage, while PSG and Benfica came very close.

you citizens no longer falls from second place in group G, after the zero in Copenhagen, combined with the 1-1 draw between Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, teams still in the race.

The day was indeed full of draws – no less than five – and one of the most interesting took place at the Parc des Princes, in Paris, where the 1-1 was satisfactory even for the club from the French capital and for Benfica, which with another draw can even qualify in the remaining two matches.

Group H had started another humiliation of Juventus, who fell 2-0 in Haifa at 7:42 am to Maccabi – goals from Israeli international Atzili.

PSG and Benfica took the field, aware of this result, which was interesting for both, and played an open game, without great pressure, with the two elves going for the win.

PSG started better with Kyliam Mbappé’s 31st Champions League goal in the 39th minute, after a somewhat naive penalty from António Silva.

It was also from a penalty that Benfica recovered the equalizing goal in the 62nd minute with a shot by João Mário in the center. A penalty that was narrowly missed – in a first phase, the referee ordered the game to continue, but Rafa did not get off the ground and complained about Verrati’s lack, and the game eventually went to the VAR, which he was right.

All things considered, PSG – this Tuesday with the Portuguese Danilo and Vitinha as starters – and Benfica continue to equal each other at the front of the group, with eight points (and a minimum advantage of the French, as they have scored more goals), well ahead of the three from Juventus and Maccabi Haifa.

In Group G it was a draw, one frame enough to qualify City by 10 points, against seven from Borussia Dortmund and two from Sevilla and Copenhagen.

João Cancelo started, while Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias were used as substitutes, in a match in which the citizens had to be outnumbered since the 30th minute due to the expulsion of Spaniard Sergio Gomez.

At Dortmund’s Signal-Iduna-Park, Sevilla took the lead at 18, via Frenchman Nianzou, and the locals tied it at 35, with a goal from Englishman Jude Bellingham.

Portugal’s Raphael Guerreiro came in at halftime to bolster the consistency of Borussia’s left side, but without much success.

Real Madrid were clearly on the pitch with a less competitive stance, as Group F tied 1-1 in Warsaw with Shakhtar Donetsk.

you meringues presented a second-class team, already thinking about the Spanish League match with FC Barcelona and they almost lost – they only drew 90+5, via Antonio Rudiger.

The result turns out to be downright unfair for the Ukrainians, who dominated but only scored once, through Zubkov, at 46.

In Glasgow, André Silva was left blank in RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win over Celtic. The goals were attributed to Timo Werner (75) and Forsberg (84).

After Tuesday’s games, Real Madrid is almost there, with 10 points, followed by Leipzig (six), Donetsk (five) and Celtic (one).

The most involved of the groups in action this Tuesday is the E, with the four teams in a three-point range.

He leads Chelsea, with seven, against six for Salzburg and four for AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreg.

At the Giuseppe Meazza stadium, Tomori’s dismissal in the 18th minute was decisive, leaving AC Milan clearly more vulnerable.

Jorginho, from a penalty, in the 21st minute, and Aubameyang, in the 34th minute, took the Londoners’ victory against the Italian champions, in which Portugal’s Rafael Leão, substituted in the 80th minute, was unbalanced.

In Zagreb, Seiwald Salzburg moved forward at the age of 12, and Ljubicic scored Dinamo’s goal at the age of 40.
