Australia withdraws from the 2034 World Cup and makes way for Saudi Arabia

Australia decided this Tuesday to abandon its candidacy to organize the 2034 World Cup, strengthening the position of Saudi Arabia, the favorite to host the event.

After announcing that it was in talks with Australia about a joint bid to host the 2034 World Cup, the Indonesian Football Federation finally supported, ten days ago, the candidacy of Saudi Arabia, which already had the official support of the Asian Football Confederation. Soccer.

The deadline for submitting applications was set by FIFA for this Tuesday.

After having designated Spain, Morocco and Portugal as hosts of the 2030 World Cup in early October, FIFA launched a call for candidates for the next edition, limiting it to the confederations of Asia and Oceania, in accordance with the principle of rotation.
