This Sunday, Kenyan Emmanuel Kemboi won the 19th edition of the Porto Marathon, completing the 42.195 kilometer route in 2:14.13 hours, finishing far from the record set the previous year by his compatriot James Mwangui.
The 35-year-old athlete completed the half marathon in 1:04.07 hours and crossed the finish line installed in Queimódromo alone, leaving behind the Kenyan compatriot Simion Tarus, second, 27 seconds behind, and the Ethiopian Ashenafi Boja, who finished in the podium, 1.10. minutes.

In the female category, the Ethiopian Tejitu Siyum Alemayehu succeeded the Portuguese Vanessa Carvalho, triumphing in 2:32.06 hours, to be ahead of her compatriot Sinke Dessie, second, with 4.11 minutes, and the Kenyan Mildred Chepkemei, third, with 12.27.
José Sousa, ninth classified, with 2:19.17 hours, and Laura Silva, 48th overall and fourth among women, with 2:45.51, were the best Portuguese in the Porto marathon, whose absolute record still belongs to the Kenyan James Mwangui, with 2:08.47.
Scattered between Porto and Matosinhos in recent years, this year the event recovered its passage through Vila Nova de Gaia, which had been blocked in 2021 and 2022, due to the works on the lower deck of the D. Luís I Bridge, while the Covid-19 pandemic 19 canceled the 2020 edition
