The Benfica coach denied on Saturday that the result in the derby against Sporting, from the I Football League, would have an impact on his future with the ‘red’ and assured that he feels the club’s confidence in his work.
At a press conference in Seixal, the coach recalled that at the end of March he extended his contract until 2026 because he likes “to be at Benfica” and admitted that when he did so, he did not expect to always be successful, but emphasized that he this cannot be a reason for the ‘eagles’ to lose confidence in him.

We have to work very hard for every title, just like last season, but if you are struggling in a competition there is no shame. We played against great teams. Look at Inter Milan, since they also play in Serie A, Real Sociedad is one of the best teams in Europe at the moment,” he analyzed.
Therefore, he admitted that Benfica is not currently “at the best level”, but emphasized that this is “part of football” and showed the ambition to continue winning titles.
“What we have to do is look ahead, accept, be professional, work hard and show a good response in the next match. We are far from losing our confidence. We are united as a group and I hope we will continue to do so in the coming years can do.” winning a lot of titles,” he noted.
