The newly arrived coach resigns due to “increased workload”, which in France would imply dismissal

Made official on October 12 and presented on the 23rd, succeeding Patrice Lagisquet as national coach, Sebastien Bertrank signed until 2027, but did not warm up the position. The French coach decided not to embark on the “adventure” that led him to coach the Wolves.

Bertrank chose to give up coaching Portugal after realizing the position would mean leaving his position in France. “The significant increase in the volume of work and the many requests that the national XV team has received after its excellent performances at the World Championship, with the planned organization of several international competitions and weeks of preparation, would mean that Mr. regularity and stayed longer in Portugal, which would lead to the termination of his professional relationship with the French Ministry of Sports, a situation he wants to avoid”the Portuguese Rugby Federation said in a statement on Monday.

Sebastien Bertrank is the training coordinator at the Montpellier Sports Resources, Knowledge and Performance Center, a dependency of the French State institution for continuous training for coaches and managers in the field of sports and public education.

Amid regret over what happened, the federation led by Carlos Amado da Silva has accepted the French coach’s resignation and is now looking for a new commander for the Wolves.
