The president of the Arbitration Council, José Fontelas Gomes, said this Thursday that the referees will soon be able to announce the decisions they make to the fans in the stadiums, as happens in other sports.
“In international terms, after the experience that FIFA has had in these last live communication championships, I think it will be in the near future,” said the leader of Portugal’s referees.

One of the sports in which this happens is rugby and, in soccer, the technology was tested in the last Women’s World Cup. To be able to definitively participate in the matches you only need authorization: “As soon as FIFA authorizes it, I think practically all countries will follow it.”
The head of refereeing assures that Portugal will be at the forefront in the use of this technology that allows referees to explain to fans in real time the decisions they make on the field of play.
