Mariana Machado (Sporting de Braga) won the title of national long cross champion this Sunday for the third consecutive time, by winning the 100th edition of the championship, in Amora, in 24.24 minutes.

The 23-year-old athlete from Braga surpassed her mother Albertina Machado, who has two titles in history, winning the approximately eight kilometers of the Quinta María Pires route, over the Kenyan Fancy Cherono (Sporting), second in the classification. five seconds, and the Spanish Ester Navarrete (Sporting de Braga), third at six.

Neide Dias (Sporting) was the fourth to cross the finish line in the race held in the 33rd edition of the Corta-Mato Cidade de Amora and took second place among the Portuguese, 12th, while Ana Ferreira (Sporting) finished on the national podium . , at 32.

Inês Borba (Sporting) was the first sub-23 to finish the race simultaneously with the open race, in 13th place overall, with a time of 25.51.

Sporting de Braga won the collective classification in the absolute women’s category, with 16 points, four less than Sporting, which repeated the position already achieved previously in the men’s category, with 33 points, compared to 13 for Benfica.

In the men’s sector, Etson Barros (Benfica) won the title of absolute and sub-23 champion, with a time of 26.56 minutes.

The 22-year-old from Olhão, second in 2022, succeeded his teammate Samuel Barata, winner of the last two editions and is currently absent to prepare for participation in the Valencia Marathon, in Spain, leaving his Benfica teammates André Pereira and Duarte Gomes in one and five seconds, respectively.

Rui Pinto (Sporting), champion in 2015, 2017 and 2021, was left off the podium by finishing in sixth place, fourth among the Portuguese, 37 seconds behind Zakayo and 13 seconds behind Etson Barros.

Before the absolute and under-23 races, the national under-20 titles were contested, with the victories of Lourenço Rodrigues (Juventude Ilha Verde) and Diana Fernandes (Feirense), and under-18, with the triumphs of Manuel Santos (Gira Sun). ) and Lara Costa (Várzea).
