Villas-Boas assumes that he will officially run for the presidency of FC Porto in January

André Villas-Boas took office this Thursday, at the end of the FC Porto General Assembly to approve the accounts of the club, which will formalize the candidacy for the presidency of the blue and white shield in January 2024.

The former FC Porto coach also highlighted the positive way in which the General Assembly (GA) was developed.

“It is a General Assembly that marks the history of FC Porto, for its positivism, its open criticism and its right to expression. May this be the support and reference for a General Assembly in the future. This is what all members we want and that was what all the partners felt,” he stated.

FC Porto’s accounts were approved with 52.3% of the votes in favor and André Villas-Boas voted against. Even so, the former coach maintained that “FC Porto emerged victorious.”

“It ended early in the morning, but with a feeling of good behavior, presence and free democratic expression. I believe that FC Porto will emerge victorious from this assembly, especially thanks to the democracy of this GA,” he added.

Regarding the accounts, Villas-Boas addressed the “operational failure that must be corrected” at FC Porto.

“There is an accumulation of debt. The numbers speak for themselves and do not lie. The accumulated amount is 499 million and has been growing over the years. Management has shown the wisdom of trying to improve things as quickly as possible It comes with an agreement that at this moment will be revealed by the current management. It is part of the capital injection and the revaluation of one of the group companies, for the reclassification of FC Porto’s own capital. This will be the movement that will lead to until December 31, an operational failure that needs to be corrected. Management is aware of this and has shown signs of wanting to improve in this aspect,” he also stated.

Regarding the imminent candidacy for the presidency of FC Porto, André Villas-Boas guaranteed that it will advance in January next year.

“Pinto da Costa is the president of the presidents of FC Porto. I remain convinced of advancing to the elections and, as I said recently, the presentation of a candidacy is a mere formality. The ‘timings’ of the presentation of a candidacy are only a It’s up to me. This will be done in January,” he revealed.
