Trackhouse Racing will be the team of Portuguese Miguel Oliveira in the Moto GP World Championship in 2024, as a satellite of Aprilia, replacing RNF, which was left without a contract due to failures in the participation agreement, the organizer confirmed this Tuesday.
“It is an important moment for Trackhouse. When our team was created the goal was to go beyond NASCAR. In motorsports there are no borders. This moment is incredible for our company,” explained North American Justin Marks, owner of the project.
The businessman, who created Trackhouse Entertainment Group three years ago to compete in NASCAR, was thus offered a place in the CryptoDATA RNF Aprilia to participate in the World Speed Motorcycle Championship.
“I love all kinds of motorsports. This year I was at the Austrian GP and I was impressed with what I saw. When I came home I thought ‘why not get into MotoGP?’ I spoke with Dorna, the opportunity with Aprilia appeared and we didn’t hesitate,” summarized the millionaire.
Justin Marks will have already met with Miguel Oliveira and the Spanish Raúl Fernández, the two former RNF drivers who will continue next year.
Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia, said he was “super motivated” with the new project: “Our visions meet. We don’t have much time anymore, but we have a lot of motivation to recover it. We are super motivated.” “I love the project, the attitude and the vision we share.”
Carlos Ezpeleta, head of Dorna, the World Championship organizing company, addressed the “very special moment” with the entry of Trackhouse into MotoGP.
“It’s a very special moment at a time when MotoGP is going through big changes. Trackhouse is a company with an incredible personality, very successful, and we are excited to see what they can do on and off the track. The enthusiasm is great and we wish you the best,” he said.
Miguel Oliveira, whose participation in this year’s World Championship ended early, after a fall in the sprint race of the Qatar GP, penultimate on the calendar, on November 18, which caused a fracture in his right shoulder blade, will keep the number 88 in 2024.
