The president of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), Fernando Gomes, highlighted this Monday the “very rich year for national colors”and recalled the values ​​for which the national football governing body fights.

“However, on a purely sporting level, we cannot fail to highlight some of the achievements we had throughout a very rich year for the national colors,” the leader began by saying, in a message of happy holidays on the official website. of the FPF.

Fernando Gomes covered events throughout the year, in the field of football – with unprecedented presence at the Women’s World CupOh new selector male, Roberto Martínez, or the co-organization of the 2030 World Cup -, but also indoor soccer and beach soccer.

In the three modalities, the manager highlighted the qualifying campaigns for the European Football Championship, with 10 victories in the same number of games, but also for the Futsal and Beach Soccer World Cups, among other achievements.

In the message, as a summary, the top manager of Portuguese football highlighted the growth of the base of the modalities pyramidwith more than 215,000 federated practitioners and more than 1,200 clubs and certified schools and academies.

The future promises to come with the “construction of phase 3 of the Cidade do Futebol, which will include the new Futsal Pavilion, the headquarters of the Portugal Football Scholl and the definitive facilities of Channel 11,” he added.

Finally, the president of the FPF recalled that the organization will always go far beyond the four lines of play, in values ​​such as “transparency, the defense of the weakest and most vulnerable, the right to live in a world that respects the environment , feminism or the frontal and irreducible fight against all forms of discrimination”.

“We do not accept dishonesty, corruption, xenophobia, racism, homophobia, misogyny or any other type of violence,” he added, justifying that the FPF, as “the most recognizable element of identification of Portugal abroad, must assume openly their social responsibilities.
