The president of Santos, Marcelo Teixeira, confirmed this Wednesday that Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo will be a Benfica player in exchange for 18 million euros.

“Now we only need to evaluate, as we are evaluating, the form of payment and the conditions given to have the necessary payment guarantees,” said Marcelo Teixeira.
The payment of 18 million euros must be “in installments with guarantees” and the agreement was also made taking into account “the wishes of the player”, who had already asked to leave Santos in the previous transfer market.
The 20-year-old forward made his debut in the Santos first team as a junior: at the age of 17 he played 22 games and scored five goals for the Club.
In the last three seasons he has always played a minimum of 40 games, having scored 21 goals in the last season, a mark that was not enough to avoid Santos’ relegation to Serie B of Brazilian football.
He also represented Brazil in the U-20 World Cup last year, scoring five goals in as many games.
