French international Franck Ribery announced on Friday that he is ending his career at the age of 39 at a time when doctors advised him to stop due to physical problems.
“The pain in my knee got worse and the doctors were out. I have no choice but to stop playing. That’s why I have to end my professional football career. It’s the end of a beautiful chapter in my life.”announced the player on social media.
The ball stops. Not the feelings in me.
DerBall Ruth. Die Gefuhle in mir nicht.
Le ballon s”arrette mais pas me sentiments pour lui
Il pallone si ferma. The emotion in me, no.Thank you everyone for this great adventure. #FR7 #Elhamdoulillah pic.twitter.com/Ku4i1MeEbE

Ribery was in his second season with Salernitana, in the Italian Serie A, despite playing just two games this season, in what was also his second club in Italy, after two seasons with Fiorentina.
The winger stood out in particular in the service of Bayern Munich, a club where he spent 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019 and with which he won everything possible, the World Cup for clubs, the European Supercup, the Champions League and the German competitions.
The Frenchman was a nine-time Bundesliga champion, winning four German Cups, five Super Cups and one German League Cup.
Before Bayern Munich, Ribery played for Marseille, Metz, Brest, Olympique Ales, Boulogne and for Lille, as well as Galatasaray, the club for which he played in the 2004/05 season and won the Turkish Cup.
At parting, with a video on social networks, the winger did not forget about the fans, teammates, coaches and staff of the clubs he passed, leaving thanks for a journey that he emphasized was not “solo”.
“The fact that I have been able to play at the highest level for almost 20 years and have had this career is because you were there also in difficult times. You gave me the strength to live this incredible adventure.”justified.
For France, he played 81 games and scored 16 goals, both at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships, but outside of the 2018 World Cup, which gave the ‘blue’ team their second world title.
