Palmeiras, led by Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira, was proclaimed this Wednesday the 11th champion of Brazilian football, benefiting from the defeat of Internacional at América Mineiro (0-1), in matchday 35.
The team from Porto Alegre needed to win to continue in the race for the title, but they did not, keeping it with 64 points, against 74 for Palmeiras, who have four games to play.
Palmeiras, who reinforced the leadership of the Brasileirão ranking -three more titles than Santos-, added his sixth trophy under Abel Ferreira and third in 2022, after victories in the Supercopa Sudamericana and Paulistão.
Before, the 43-year-old Portuguese coach, who arrived at the São Paulo club at the end of October 2020, had already won the Copa Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil twice.
