The selection generates some distrust among the Portuguese in order to succeed in the 2022 World Cup. This is revealed by the Aximage survey for the TSFJN and DN with the objective of evaluating the opinion of the Portuguese and who concluded that Fernando Santos is not the ideal coach for Portugal to win the World Cup.
Of those surveyed, 42% are convinced that Fernando Santos is not the right coach, while 37% say that he is. Regarding the alternatives for Portugal to win the World Cup, in this survey the respondents indicated the name of José Mourinho with 54%, followed by Abel Ferreira, champion in Brazil with Palmeiras, who gathered 15% of the options. , then Jorge Jesus appears. with 6%, Vítor Pereira and Sérgio Conceição with 3% each.
After these answers, this survey also concludes that the current national coach has to reach the semifinals to stay in front of the National Team. That is the conviction of 27% of those surveyed, then 23% aim for the quarterfinals and 19% demand the highest level, that is, reach the World Cup final.
For those surveyed, the minimum level of the National Team in this World Cup is to reach the quarterfinals. This is the belief of 23,% of the Portuguese followers. While 18% ask for the semifinals, 16% for the final and only 8% believe that Portugal can be World Soccer Champion.
Regarding the role of Cristiano Ronaldo in Qatar, 79% of those surveyed believe that the captain of the National Team will be the main figure in the set of corners in this World Cup.
Of the other teams, the name of Mbappé -French international- gathered the votes of 31% of those surveyed, followed by Messi -Argentine international- with 25% of the options.
Finally, and looking to the future, 75% of the followers agree with the joint candidacy of Portugal and Spain to organize the 2030 World Cup, while 15% answered that they do not agree. Regarding the inclusion of Ukraine in this candidacy, the favorable opinion drops to 56% and 33% of those surveyed disagree.

The survey was carried out by Aximage for TSF, Jornal de Notícias and Diário de Notícias with the aim of evaluating the opinion of the Portuguese on issues related to football.
The field work took place between October 26 and 30, 2022. 812 interviews were collected among people over the age of eighteen residing in Portugal. The sampling was carried out by quotas, with gender, age and region, of the known universe, rebalanced by gender, age group and schooling.
The sample of 812 interviews corresponds to a confidence level of 95% with a margin of error of 3.44%. The study is in charge of Aximage Comunicação e Imagem Lda., under the technical direction of Ana Carla Basílio.
