The management of Manchester United announced on Tuesday that it is studying “strategic alternatives” for the future of the club, which includes a possible sale of the club.
“The process is designed to support the growth of the club, with the aim of capitalizing on opportunities both on the pitch and commercially,” Manchester United said in a statement.
Red Devils give examples: “As part of this process, management will consider all alternatives, including new investment, a sale, or other transactions involving the company.”
Within these “other transactions” are “initiatives to strengthen the club”, such as “the development of the stadium and infrastructure and the expansion of the commercial operations of the club on a global scale”.
The purpose, as the club writes, is “to enhance the long-term success of the club’s men’s, women’s and academic teams and to provide benefits to supporters and other stakeholders.”
This announcement comes the same day that Manchester United announced the mutually agreed termination of the contract with Cristiano Ronaldo, after several controversies throughout the season that culminated in the interview of the Portuguese international in which he says he feels “betrayed” by the club and have no respect for Erik Ten Hag.
