Nuno Mendes misses training for Portugal two days before debut

Defender Nuno Mendes missed Tuesday the training of the Portuguese national football team, which will continue on Thursday with preparations for the debut in group H of the 2022 World Cup against Ghana.

The Paris Saint-Germain French left-back did not take to the pitch at Al-Shahaniya SC’s training center on the outskirts of Doha due to muscle pain, after staying in the gym to recover.

In addition, in the first 15 minutes accessible to journalists, the Portuguese coach, Fernando Santos, summoned the remaining 25, who were divided into three small groups, to perform exercises with the ball.

Goalkeepers Rui Patrício, Diogo Costa and José Sá did specific work next to one of the goals.

Portugal and Ghana will play on Thursday at 7 p.m. local time (4 p.m. in Lisbon) at Estádio 974 in Doha for the first round of Group H of the World Cup.

This is followed by clashes with Uruguay, on November 28 at 22:00 (19:00), and South Korea, by Paulo Bento, on December 2 at 18:00 (15:00).

The 22nd edition of the World Championship will run until December 18 in Qatar.
