Senegal is alive and well in its fight to qualify for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup after beating Qatar 3-1 on Friday. The home team has been eliminated from the competition with only two games played, which ended in two defeats. When the game against Senegal came to an end, there was still a glimmer of hope for the hosts, but the Netherlands’ draw against Ecuador dictated Qatar’s first elimination of this World Cup.
Boulaye Dia (41′), Famara Diedhiou (48′) and Bamba Dieng (84′) scored the Senegalese goals, while Mohammed Muntari added hope to the hosts as it fell to 2-1 in the 78th minute.
