The selections of France and Australia secured this Wednesday the pass to the round of 16 of the World Cup, although with different results. The French, already qualified, lost to Tunisia 1-0, while the Australians also beat Denmark 1-0.
The Oceania team scored the only goal of the match at 60′, by Mathew Leckie, and thus secured six points and second place in Group D of the tournament.
The French, meanwhile, were stunned by Wahbi Khazri’s solitary goal in the 58th minute, giving the Tunisians their first win of the tournament, who finished with four points in third place. Griezmann still scored at 90+8′, but the move was cancelled.
Denmark ends the tournament as one of the biggest disappointments, closing out the group stage with just one point.
With this final classification, France will face in the round of 16 the runner-up of Group C – made up of Poland, Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Mexico – and the Australians will find the winner of the same group.
