“A player wanted him to leave quickly, I told him to shut up because he has no authority”

The captain of the Portuguese team, Cristiano Ronaldo, assured this Friday that, when he was replaced, he addressed a South Korean player more abruptly who asked him to “leave quickly”.

Asked by journalists in Qatar whether he would not have been satisfied with coach Fernando Santos’ decision to replace him, Ronaldo explained what happened.

“Before the substitution, a player wanted him to leave quickly, I told him to shut up because he has no authority, the referee has to tell me,” said the captain of the team, who dismissed discrepancies with the coach.

“There doesn’t have to be controversy, it’s the heat of the game. Whatever happens, things remain on the field, ”she guaranteed.

Regarding Portugal’s defeat (2-1) against South Korea, the Portuguese acknowledged that “nobody likes to lose”, but he did not fail to point out that Portugal “knew in advance” that they were classified.

“It had to be almost a miracle for us not to go through. We really wanted to win, we couldn’t. Korea had merit and we have to learn. Hopefully we can learn from this defeat, so that in the next game, which is ‘knockout’, we can win,” he warned.
