Diogo Costa reacted on social networks to Portugal’s elimination from the World Cup this Monday, after making a brief reference to the mistake he made in scoring for Morocco in the quarter-final.
“It wasn’t the outcome we wanted, we had the ambition to win the World Cup, we didn’t succeed… but with the certainty that we gave everything on the pitch. Mistakes no one wants to make, when they happen they serve as a learning tool and daily growth. Thank you all Portuguese”said the Portuguese international goalkeeper, starter in the national team’s four matches at the 2022 World Cup, on Instagram.

Portugal was excluded from the 2022 World Cup on Saturday after losing 1-0 to Morocco in the quarter-finals through a goal from Youssef El-Nesyri.
In the semifinals, Morocco will meet reigning world champions France on Wednesday, which also eliminated England on Saturday, and Croatia will meet Argentina on Tuesday.
