This Sunday, the Portuguese team failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Handball World Cup, losing to two-time European champion Sweden, 32-30, on the third and last day of Group II of the main day.
Needing to score to reach the quarterfinals, Portugal still won 14-13 at half time, but ended up being beaten by the co-hosts.
Sweden remains 100% victorious and won Group II, with eight points, two more than Hungary, which goes to the quarterfinals, and than Iceland. Portugal finished with five, followed by Brazil with three and Cape Verde with zero.
