The Sporting coach said on Tuesday that “it is difficult” to find another footballer with the characteristics of Pedro Porro, on loan to Tottenham in the winter transfer window, and for this reason the club will try to “build another”.
“The truth is that a player with the characteristics of Porro cannot be fixed and that is why they won the clause, a right-back from a club that the other knows we have to sell, but they only wanted that player and they got it”, stressed. Rúben Amorim, at a press conference in Alcochete.
Refusing on several occasions to comment on the signing of Bellerín, hired for the same position, because “he has not yet been presented”, the coach highlighted in Porro “a player who has so many goals and so many assists”, despite the fact that he is ” a right-back” and concluded that “it is difficult” to find another with these characteristics.
“And, therefore, we have to build others and that is what we are going to try to do,” Amorim said.
In this sense, the coach addressed the signing of the center-back Ousmane Diomandé from Midtjylland, for “amounts that have not yet been announced”, but stressed that “he is a very talented player and that most people do not know the number of clubs behind him”.
He explained that Sporting does not have the same economic arguments as its rivals and, even so, “sometimes” it manages to sign players because it risks telling “the kids to come to the main team.”
Amorim refuted, on the other hand, that the accounts make the Ivorian, barely 19 years old, the most expensive defender in the history of the ‘lions’ and recalled that these values are “a normal day in other clubs.”
“The truth is that the goals of the players are sometimes 30 games, 60 games, 90 games. A player who arrives and plays 90 games at Sporting, at the age of 19, how much money will he be worth? Sporting is in fourth place in the league table, eight points behind second-placed Minho, seven points behind Benfica and one ahead of FC Porto.
