The Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation sanctioned Paulinho with a three-game suspension after his expulsion in the League Cup final, against FC Porto, and “insults” to the refereeing body. The player will miss a new classic against the dragons, now for the championship.
The Sporting striker was sent off in the 72nd minute for accumulating yellow cards, which earned him the suspension of the game. However, according to the statement from the Disciplinary Board, the player was suspended for two more games for “injuries and offenses against the reputation” of the referees.
“After leaving the field of play, already expelled, he addressed the 4th referee with his finger raised
of the right hand saying “corrupt, corrupt, you are corrupt”, says the statement.
Therefore, the Sporting athlete will miss the matches against SC Braga, Rio Ave and FC Porto, all scoring for the League.
