The Lions filed an appeal with the Federation Disciplinary Board. The revelation was made by coach Rúben Amorim, after Sporting beat SC Braga 5-0 in Alvalade, in a match on matchday 18 of the Primeira Liga.
The move that led to Paulinho’s sending off refers to the clash with Otávio, where Paulinho elbowed the FC Porto midfielder. Also according to the FPF Disciplinary Council, the Leon striker called the referees “corrupt”. For this reason, he received a three-game suspension, the most serious sanction of all the processes in the Leiria final.
Paulinho already missed the match against SC Braga and will not be present in Sporting’s teams for the matches against Rio Ave, in Vila do Conde, and against FC Porto, in Alvalade.
