Portuguese Olympic athlete Gustavo Ribeiro qualified for the finals of the Skateboarding World Championship this Saturday, with the third best record achieved in the semifinals in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
In the ‘socks’ performed with the Olympic scoring system, the 2022 SLS Supercrown champion added 255.85 points, the third best record among the participants, close to his third place in the Olympic ‘ranking’.
“I wanted to keep calm and do what I practiced. Today my mentality was a little different, I just wanted to do the whole ‘run’, the first ‘run’. I got an 88, which helps me stay a little calmer. I’m very satisfied with today’s result”, said the Olympic athlete, eighth in Tokyo2020, quoted in a statement.
The ‘skater’ feels “confident” and wants to do the same as today, tweaking “little details” to “bring home first place”.
The final is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Lisbon.
This World Championship reports to 2022, as it did not take place in Brazil last year as planned, and is the highest ‘listed’ event for the Olympic rankings with a view to Paris2024.
