In a publication on social networks, the tennis player expressed the “challenges” that he has been experiencing with various injuries in the last three years and acknowledges that “it is time to end” his career.
As a farewell letter to all “his friends, opponents and, above all, the fans”, the Swiss athlete also mentioned that the Laver Cup will be the last ATP tournament he will play. “This is a bittersweet decision, because I am going to miss everything that sport has given me,” he lamented.

The Swiss acknowledges that the sport has treated him “even more generously” than he dreamed, but admits that you have to “recognize when the time has come to end” the race.
