Sporting presents a new sanction appeal to Paulinho

Sporting presented this Wednesday before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) a new appeal against the three-game ban imposed on striker Paulinho, one of which has already been served.

The lions already saw an appeal rejected this week by the Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation.

“The present improper hierarchical appeal is dismissed and, consequently, the appealed disciplinary resolution is confirmed,” said the CD of the FPF, in a statement.

The Alvalade club is now advancing to TAD with the hope that the forward can face FC Porto in the classic scheduled for this Sunday.

The lions striker was sent off in the League Cup final, also against FC Porto, which the dragons beat 2-0, after seeing two yellow cards, in the 63rd and 71st minutes.

Paulinho ended up being sanctioned with a total of three games of suspension -he already served one against Rio Ave-, one for expulsion in the game and two more games for words addressed to the referee team led by João Pinheiro.

“After leaving the field of play, already sent off, he addressed the fourth official with the finger of his right hand saying ‘corrupt, corrupt, you are corrupt,'” the CD said, citing the referee’s report.

The striker has already served a one-match ban, against Sporting Braga, and now he must serve the two that were applied to him for “injuries and breaches of reputation”, which also earned him a fine of 2,550 euros.
