The document will be delivered this Thursday at the Portuguese Football Federation, and the TSF You know that the FPF welcomes this collective agreement.

The Federation has been working together with the Players Union on this document since 2020.

The president of the Professional Players Union Joaquim Evangelista explains in the TSF what is at risk:

“What we want, above all, is a regulation that defines the rules between the players and the football clubs, something that does not exist. There is a great precariousness in the relations of women’s football and the players deserve better ”.

The Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of the State presented 15 proposals for gender equality, recalling, therefore, “strictly speaking, what we are doing and implementing what the Government and the community demand for women compared to men.”

The organization led by Joaquim Evangelista wants a minimum salary equality between men and women in Portuguese football and adds that this agreement is based on the best examples of measures that are already applied in other countries.

Issues such as wages, but also issues related to pregnancy or sexual harassment “deserve a specific regulation that did not exist until now,” he argues. “It is essential that we know how to follow the international trend and the best practices that exist in other championships.”

“We are now entering a period of negotiation to see what is possible to implement in Portugal”, he points out.

Until now, professional contracts had a mandatory minimum value of 665 euros – the national minimum wage,

This season, the 12 teams in the BPI League have players with professional contracts, as do 12 of the 18 teams that play in the 2nd division.

Women’s football has grown every year in Portugal. In total there are 9,200 players who are federated, at all levels.
