The Portuguese Auriol Dongmo qualified this Thursday for the final of the shot put event of the European Athletics Indoor Championships, in Istanbul, Turkey, by achieving 18.51 meters, in the first attempt.
Auriol Dongmo, 32, reached his second European Indoor Championships, after winning the title in Torun 2021, with the second best mark of the year (19.24 meters), one centimeter less than that achieved by the Dutch Jessica Schilder (19.25). ), who already has her presence in the final assured, with 19.18.
The Sporting pitcher, who this Thursday threw the device at 18.51, one centimeter above the direct classification mark, holds the national record, of 20.43, established on March 18, 2022, when she was proclaimed ‘indoor’ world champion ‘ in Belgrade.
Also competing in the shot put are Jessica Inchude, 26, who entered the competition with the fifth best mark of 2023, thanks to 18.47 meters from her personal record, and Eliana Bandeira, of the same age, who presented herself with the ninth launch of the year, also with his best historical mark (17.97).
The shot put final is scheduled for Friday, starting at 8:53 p.m. local time (5:53 p.m. in Lisbon).
