The Public Prosecution Service (MP) has carried out house searches in the Azores and various parts of the mainland on suspicion of alleged misappropriation of Santa Clara money through transfers to trustee accounts, the MP announced on Monday.
According to the note published on the website of the Central Department of Investigations and Criminal Procedure (DCIAP), house searches have been carried out in Ponta Delgada, Vila Nova de Famalicão, Moimenta da Beira, Espinho, Lisbon and also in Madeira. Law firms in Lisbon and the Azores and three Azores companies were also searched.
“At stake are facts likely to constitute the practice of money laundering, economic participation in affairs, embezzlement and breach of trust”the MP stressed, adding that the DCIAP investigation has the support of the Azores Criminal Investigation Department (PJ).
