Futsal coach sees the match with Belarus as decisive despite the classification

The Portuguese futsal coach, Jorge Braz, wants to close this Tuesday the qualification for the Elite Round of the 2024 World Cup, already assured, as if it were a decisive match, against Belarus.

“We are preparing the match as if it were the decisive match to guarantee qualification. It’s exactly the same organization, the same process. From the players to the coaching staff, we don’t make it easy. We are working on the last match of this qualifying phase, it is as important a match as any other we have played”, said the coach, in statements to the Federation’s advice.

Portugal faces Belarus on Tuesday in Yerevan (2:00 p.m. from Lisbon), in the last match of Group 4 qualifying for the Elite Round, with the team from the Quinas securing first place.

Portugal leads the group, with nine points, from three wins in three games, followed by Lithuania, with four points, and Belarus, with one and with no chance of advancing.

The first in the group, as well as the four best seconds, will go to the Elite Round, whose draw is scheduled for July 5, while the remaining eight seconds will go to a play-off.

The Portuguese futsal team is world champion (2021) and twice European champion (2022 and 2018) by title.
