Diogo Costa said goodbye this Wednesday to the work of the national team in the preparation of the first games for the qualification to Eurocopa 2024.
The announcement was made by the Portuguese Football Federation itself: “The goalkeeper has muscle myalgias and, after tests, he was considered unfit by the FPF Health and Performance Unit for the matches against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg.”
Roberto Martínez chose Celton Biai to replace the FC Porto goalkeeper in the squad. The young Vitória SC goalkeeper had already been working with the senior team since Monday, despite having been called up by the Under-21s.
Portugal faces Liechtenstein this Thursday, in the first qualifying round for Euro 2024, and plays in Luxembourg on Sunday.
